5 years ago, I found an empty space next to one of my favourite cafés. I established a dance studio with the simple feeling, "I want to dance in this place."

My partner Kim and I procured our own mirrors, stuck hand-painted “bricks” on the walls, and made everything by hand.

Before I knew it, I was surrounded my many students dancing.

They were full of energy, and loud voices flew from here and there, saying "Madu!”.

I could exist as "Madu”, not "Kim's partner", "Japanese from overseas", or "introverted person who doesn't understand English".

It was a place where I could be myself.

You guys made me who I am.

The "Dance Summer Camp" that could be held every year was full of energy and in the third year since I started the dance studio, I was able to hold a outdoor performance.

Starting with one weekly class, it grew eventually to 10 times a week.

I noticed that I had more than 50 students!

A student who couldn't dance without his mom could now dance alone, or a student who was so shy and couldn't speak at all could speak.

I was never perfect. I sometimes make mistakes, but It was a place to love and be loved.

December 31, 2021.

I closed Movement Dance Studio.

It's been 5 years since the dance studio was established. A student who was 6 years old is now 11 years old.

It's difficult to say goodbye to my favorite place, but even though the place called a dance studio is gone, I will continue to dance.

I was so happy that I could dance with all of you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my dream come true.

Thank you for dancing with me.

Goodbye, my favorite place!

Thank you for everything. Keep dancing!

(P.S. I might have a home dance studio so if you want to dance, contact me)
